SIMPLE FUTURE
The Simple Future is used to express actions that will happen later, allowing speakers to make predictions, promises, or plans.
Formation:
- The Simple Future is formed using will + base verb.
- Examples:
- I will go to the party.
- She will finish her homework.
- Short form : Subject + ‘ll
For the verbs ”to be”, ”to do”, and ”to have”:
To be:
- I will be (I’ll be)
- you will be (You’ll be)
- he/she/it will be (He/She/It’ll be)
- we will be (We’ll be)
- they will be (They’ll be)
To do:
- I will do
- You will do,
- He/she/it will do,
- We will do,
- They will do.
To have:
- I will have,
- You will have,
- he/she/it will have,
- we will have,
- they will have.
Usage:
- Predictions:
- Example: It will rain tomorrow.
- Promises:
- Examples: I will help you with your homework/I will do it next week.
- Plans:
- Example: We will visit our grandparents next week.
Questions and Negations:
- Questions: Will + subject + base verb?
- Example: Will you join us for dinner?
- Negations: Subject + will not (won’t) + base verb.
- Example: I will not go to the concert.
Use of would like
Examples :
- I would like to earn more money this year.
- She’d like me to change my career.
- Would you like some milk ?
Formation
- Affirmative form :
- Subject + would (‘d) + like + [to] …
- Negative form :
- Subject + would + not (wouldn’t)+ like + [to] …
- Question :
- Would + Subject + like + [to] …
We can use this verb For :
- Asking politely for something we want
- Examples :
- I’d like some coffee for my breakfast
- She’d like 1.000MAD for the accomodation
- The verb that comes after would like is supposed to be in the infinitive form
- Examples :
- We’d like to pay a visit to our parent next week
- They’d like to play football with us.
- The verb could also be used to make a request
- Example :
- Would you like to drink some tea with our friends ?
- Would he like to join us for the meeting ?
